Miami Marine Council

The Marine Council is a not-for-profit trade association whose mission is to serve as The Guardian of the Marine Community in Miami Dade County.  Given the many challenges that marine interests now face – this mission is even more important today than it was when the Marine Council was founded more than 57 years ago.

While its membership represents all facets of the local marine community, the Marine Council’s primary focus is on the recreational marine industry where it remains the leading advocacy group for recreational boating interests in Miami-Dade County.

Meeting monthly at a local restaurant this group provides presentations and networking events to learn about the marine happenings in the community.

    Miami Maritime Arbitration Council (MMAC)

The MMAC was established more than 30 years ago by the Marine Council, a non-profit marine trade association whose mission is to serve as the Guardian of the Marine Community.  MMAC was created with the specific purpose of maintaining and administering a system for settlement – by arbitration or mediation – of maritime commercial disputes.  Turning to the MMAC for help is not mandatory; the parties must request intervention and agree to operate under the rules of that organization.

For some disputes there is simply no option but to settle them in court.  However, there are just as many others which can be solved by simpler and less-expensive means that leave both parties feeling justice has been served.  Working with yacht brokers and maritime industry professionals to ensure that this is the dispute option in contracts.
